Diploma in Co-operatives and Business Administration
Programme Description
This programme is meant to prepare the learners in the management of co-operatives and other business enterprises in both public and private sectors. It covers the aspects of co-operative business management, Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing and Investigations among others.
As Uganda’s economy continues to grow, it needs a skilled labour force. The largest proportion of the skills that are required are vocational; Uganda needs capable, competent and committed Accounts assistants, Middle Course Level Managers, Audit assistants to perform different organizational activities. The Diploma in Co-operatives and Business Administration should fill this gap appropriately. The program will include Principles and Practices of Co-operatives, Economics, management, Accounting, Human resource Management, Financial management among other course Units. The Diploma in Co-operatives and Business Administration will boost the human resource capacity hence empowering the required competent and committed manpower which will contribute to the provision of high quality services in the co-operative and business industry. It will further promote the growth
of the sector by contributing to economic, social and structural transformation of the economy in terms of its GDP. Therefore, training Uganda’s young women and men in Diploma in Co-operatives and Business Administration at Diploma Course Level to become accounts assistants, managers, community workers, commercial officers, Auditors, marketers, sales representatives book keepers, extension workers will enhance quality service provision in the sector. The Diploma in Co-operatives and Business Administration will address such concerns of lack of skills, changing employees’ attitudes to be entrepreneurs hence job creators than job seekers.
The objective of this programme is:
i.To impart learners with Knowledge of Co-operatives and Business skills.
ii.To explore the principles and guidelines of Co-operatives and Other business operations.
iii.To equip learners with knowledge and skills to provide high quality service in the Co-operative industry.
iv.To prepare learners for lifelong learning
Programme Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, learners should be able to;
i.Apply co-operatives and other business skills to run business.
ii.Demonstrate principles and guidelines of co-operatives and other business while conducting operations.
iii.Apply knowledge and skills acquired towards provision of high quality service in the Co-operative industry.
iv.Pursue further studies.
